Society has a consistent problem with people who take (some) rules too seriously. You have surely heard of the police officer who refuses to grant an exception to speeding through roadworks areas which are complete, though one slow speed sign has been left out. Or the teacher who gives a detention for students not bringing equipment which they couldn’t afford. Or worse still, the large corporation that has avoided legal action due to a technicality. Sometimes, it is so clear that someone is guilty, when the law says they are not. Sometimes it is clear that another person is not guilty, when the law says they are. This book is a call to return to common sense in the application of the law. A call to bring back wisdom and fairness. A call to raise the spirit of the law above the letter. Society continually needs reminding of reality and common sense. Sam |
